Head’s Welcome

Family. Freedom. Flair. These three words were chosen by the Horris Hill community to describe what it means to be a member of this wonderful school.

Family

At Horris Hill School, our size is our strength. We are big enough to provide every opportunity you would expect from a top performing independent school of this calibre, yet small enough to really know each child and to develop their talents individually. We don’t just teach our children; we really know them as part of our family community. They have the support of a dedicated and talented team of academic and pastoral staff who challenge every child at the appropriate level and help them to develop the right kind of confidence and resilience. Our boarding community is a true ‘home from home’ where our tutors and boarding staff ensure that everyone feels happy and settled. Our inclusive and broad community of domestic and international boarding pupils benefits from living side-by-side in an atmosphere that has to be experienced to be believed.

Freedom

Our children enjoy the freedom of a beautiful 65 acre site set in uninterrupted countryside on the Hampshire-Berkshire border. Confidence blossoms through our unique approach to outdoor learning and exploration, and children have the freedom to ‘be’. From nursery upwards, our children have a sense of freedom in an unsurpassed natural environment, through our outdoor learning philosophy and unrivalled facilities. Our facilities are top quality, including our bespoke theatre, music facilities, outdoor swimming pool and incredible sports hall. Above all, children have the freedom to find their ‘best self’ through the range of opportunities available to them.

Flair

Our excellent academic results ensure that our pupils go on to flourish at top independent schools across the country, including Marlborough, Harrow, Radley and Winchester. Small class sizes ensure that every child receives close attention, and our academic staff work hard to ensure that progress is tracked, and that pupils continue to thrive in our warm, family environment.

A Horris Hill child can truly find their voice, whether that is on the stage, the netball court or the rugby pitch. Every child finds their talent and flair through the confidence which comes from an encouraging community where opportunities are endless. Our children are aspirational, keen to try new things and happy to tackle new challenges.

Our desire is to see every child ‘in their element’. We aim to help them discover new opportunities and to discover themselves. We also want them to leave the world in a better place than when they found it - so we encourage acts of kindness and service as part of our daily lives.

To arrange your visit, please email admissions@horrishill.com - we are very excited to show you what makes us special and why you should consider joining us. Quite simply, we love what we do…because it’s Horris Hill School.
